Generation Orange seeks additional funding

Be Orange. We all hear it, but for some first-year students, this is their generation's first time going to college, much less being "Orange."

Generation Orange is a program that began last year. The Council of Independent Colleges and Wal-Mart Foundation gave a $100,000 grant to Wartburg and 19 other colleges around the U.S. to help build on programs that support first-generation college students.

The grant expires this year, but the Generation Orange program will continue. Generation Orange Coordinator Ben Brannaman, a recent May graduate, says the program helps with more than just the money.

"It's more of a mentoring program. I'm kind of like a big brother. I don know what's going on so that will be a big asset for them," said Brennaman.

Generation Orange will continue with mentoring and guidance for the students and also continue to look for funding.
