The Wartburg volleyball team swept Coe at home on Wednesday, 3-0, picking up their fifth straight conference victory and clinching a spot in the Iowa Conference tournament.
The Knights won the first set 25-17, the second set 25-17 and clinched the third set 25-20.
Knights head coach Jennifer Walker said she was pleased with how the team played.
“I thought we played fairly consistent. I would have liked to have seen a little more ball control out of us on a consistent basis,” she said. “Overall, I thought we played a good game.
Britlyn Sieck led the Knights with 12 kills on Wednesday. Britney Hermsen was credited with 34 assists. She also led the Knights with 16 digs in the match.
“The conference wins mean a lot more,” Walker said. “For us to get that, especially during homecoming week and to have that kind of momentum going even into the off-weekend, hopefully it will carry through now to the Luther game next week.”
The Knights are now 12-13 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
Being the only undefeated team remaining in the conference, Walker said the team knows they have a target on their back.
“If that isn’t enough motivation to prepare for every single game, I don’t know what else would be,” she said.
The Knights head to Decorah this Wednesday to face their rival, Luther College. First serve will commence at 7 p.m.
