On behalf of the recently elected 2009-2010 Wartburg Student Senate, I would like to once again welcome students to campus.
Senate is excited to begin serving the needs of the student body and, as always, welcome any input you may have.
As in past years, the first priority of this organization will be communication.
Last year, senate helped to organize one of the largest student-led initiatives in the history of the college, demonstrating our commitment to ensuring the voice of the students is heard.
This summer, the student senate executive team diligently worked to ensure that the issues raised from last spring are once again top priority for both senate and the college as a whole.
Starting this year, in an effort to increase visibility, but more importantly, to inform the student body on the progress being made on student issues, senate has taken steps to ensure that all students have information readily available to them.
Not only has senate added a Facebook and Twitter page, but the organization has also assigned one senator to update its Web page on a weekly basis and has a public relations director.
As usual, senators will receive weekly minutes to be distributed to their constituents and meetings are open to the entire community.
Senate continues to uphold an open-door policy; students are encouraged to approach the senate executive team or their own senator to voice any concerns. I especially welcome the new students to do so and look forward to receiving their input.
