Last month was a great month in terms of conserving energy at Wartburg College.
While there was no declared winner in the challenge with Luther College, we still did very well.
We made good strides for the month of February, but this is something that needs to continue.
Wartburg saw an electricity decrease of 3.62 percent compared to February 2008.
However, Wartburg saw a 1 percent increase in natural gas usage.
It’s important to remember that it’s not just about beating Luther, but also about creating a better and more efficient environment for Wartburg.
We can’t expect to just save one month out of the year. This requires a full commitment on the part of students.
Tammy Faux said she would like to see student’s take more action and advocate for change.
Students have to voice our opinion in this matter, in order to improve our college, both environmentally and financially.
It’s up to the students to make sure that action is taken for the better of society.
Obviously nobody likes walking in the dark hallways at night, but with the right technology, we can fix that.
Faux suggested the idea of a motion sensor, which turns the lights on when people are walking through.
An efficient set up could lead to lower electricity bills.
Lower bills mean the college is saving money. Imagine that, a college saving money.
The students can make that happen. It’s a chance to make this change for the betterment of Wartburg College.
After all, wouldn’t it be nice to see a greenish tint added in with the orange of Wartburg?
