Tuition numbers are set for 2009-10 tuition after the Wartburg College Board of Regents held a conference call last Wednesday to finalize the fees for the next academic year.
Hamm said tuition will increase, but the board “worked hard to increase at a lower percent than in previous years.”
Numbers for tuition, although set, were not available before the publication deadline.
“We’ve long felt we need to get decisions about tuition out earlier,” Wartburg College President William Hamm said.
According to Hamm, the board has been working hard this year to set tuition early to give new and returning students, and their parents or guardians more time to plan for next year’s tuition.
Hamm also commented that with the economy in its current state, it is hard to predict how people will react to fluctuation in tuition from year-to-year.
He added that built in increases, such as food costs present the most challenges when setting the budget and tuition.
The 2009-10 budget is not finished even though tuition has been set. The board is working on planning other areas of the budget.
