Dan Kittle and 23 other leaders from across the nation were selected to participate in the Foundations of Christian Leadership program at Duke University.
“The program will provide me with an opportunity to become a better leader, teacher, advocate and husband,” Kittle said.
Kittle is excited to have been honored as a local leader, and is excited to participate in the program.
“I’m looking forward to more deeply exploring the Christian foundations of my life and in my roles of leadership.
“I also anticipate stimulating conversations with dynamic people from a variety of professional fields,” he said.
Kittle said Lake Lambert nominated him, because Lambert has confidence in his ability and potential.
“I feel my work at Wartburg is one of my vocations,” Kittle said. “It’s a call to serve God through my work with students, colleagues and the community. The Christian focus of this program will challenge and enrich my exploration.”
Kittle will represent one of 12 different religious denominations in the program.
The program will be held on Duke’s campus in Durham, N.C.
One leadership role that Kittle stepped into this past summer was aiding with the floods that hit Waverly.
He currently serves as the Chair of the Bremer County Recovery Coalition.
“This is a significant recognition of his abilities in the leadership field,” Interim President William Hamm said. “It’s nice that the people at Duke University have learned what we already know.
“It reflects well on him, the Center for Community Engagement and the college,” Ham said.
Kittle works as the Director of the Center for Community Engagement, here at Wartburg. He also teaches classes within the Leadership Certificate Program.
He will participate in the program from January to September with four programs in North Carolina.
