We almost missed the bus to Italica this morning; luckily we didn’t because I think my family really liked the visit. I showed them all the Roman ruins, including the old residences and the amphitheater. We took plenty of photos and afterwards waited for the bus back to the city. It wasn’t too long of a trip, but it was a nice ride and we got the chance to see a bit of suburb action.
By the time we got back to the apartment, I was rushing around getting my things together for class and then just planned to meet my family at the apartment afterwards.
Once I finished class, I was starving and ready to go out, but everyone was tired, except for my mom. So, she and I went to VIPS Restaurant where I ate some American food, example nachos and a Caesar salad. It was delicious. We then walked to this salsa bar where Carlos met up with us for a drink and a little dancing. I introduced him to my mom and it wasn’t before long that she was dancing Bachata with him on the dance floor.
This salsa place is really sweet; every drink you buy before 1am, you get back for free after 1am. It was a good time. Carlos left early and my mom and I stayed dancing until close to 3am. There was a funny situation…these two old men were eyeing us and I was feeling pretty sketched out about it, but then all of sudden one of them came up from behind me and my mom and asked us where we were from and what we were doing here. He was really nice but then he said, “Oh mother and daughter huh? I thought you were sisters.” Good one gramps. I mean, I’m sure my mother was flattered, but really dude? We danced for a bit longer and then, when we got the chance, we escaped back to the apartment. It was a fun night and I’m really glad I got to spend some quality time with my mom.
Our plans for tomorrow don’t consist of too much because we’ve done most of the touristy stuff. We are meeting my host family for lunch at their sons restaurant and then after that we’ll probably visit plaza de Espana.
Talk to you then.
