 About V-Day Minimize

VDAY is a powerful, worldwide movement aimed at ending and raising awareness about violence against women. Though a young campaign here at Wartburg, VDAY offers a variety of opportunities for students, faculty, and the Waverly community to learn more about the VDAY cause.  An educational documentary, discussion panel, guest speakers, and showings of The Vagina Monologues, are just a few of the campaign’s events.

This campaign is crucial for the safety of women here at Wartburg.  According to the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (RAINN.org), college age women are four times more likely to be sexually assaulted.  Sixty percent of these sexual assaults are not reported.

Through the VDAY campaign, the Wartburg community will learn about the different forms of violence against women, where the violence happens, and how one can stop the violence all together.  As a result, women here and around the world will remain safe and free.

 About The Vagina Monologues Minimize

The Vagina Monologues was written and produced by Eve Ensler.  Eve traveled around the world gathering real women's stories, which she then transformed into the monologues.  The Vagina Monologues has been translated into 45 different languages and performed in over 120 different countries.  The VDAY campaign was sparked by Eve's work and is now the most popular VDAY event.

Monologue tickets, T-Shirts, Buttons, and free ribbons will be available outside the Mensa at the VDAY table all week and the silent auction will take place during the performances on Feb. 6 and 7.
