I ate ribs last night. Best moment I’ve had in a long time. Barbeque sauce. For a second I thought I was in my backyard in Altoona, Iowa, eating ribs on my porch. I love BBQ sauce. I would eat it plain if I could…I actually do sometimes and I don’t care if people stare. I did not go out last night, therefore, I am not 17. I just ate my ribs, caught up on my Grey’s Anatomy and fell asleep. It was fabulous. Everything I could ask from for a cold, yucky Saturday night.
Today, it is Sunday. The day of rest. I’ve been getting plenty of that but today I did not only get a day of rest, I got a pig. Yes. You read correctly, p-i-g. I awoke to the aroma of pork…which is fine…it’s actually great…I’m a pretty big carnivore…but instead of just some delectable pork chops I got pig everything; ears, snout, tongue….I’m pretty sure, all the normal parts and blood…in sausage form. So help me God. I set the table and then bam! All of a sudden Pedro’s mother puts a very “tender” glop of meat on my plate. EAR. I’m a huge believer in trying everything once…I’ve eaten bugs in Mexico, something similar to tree bark in Japan, so hell, why not eat a pig ear? I couldn’t do it. I had it on my fork and it just shook so much, (maybe it was just my hand) but this ear was moving. Like it was straining to hear one last time. Ahh! I just set my fork down and say, “I’m sorry, I can’t do this.” They all looked at me, smiled and said, “it’s fine, but what you ate right before that…” I was like, “yeah?” “Pig’s blood.” Awesome. I from that moment on, I just ate with my eyes wide shut.
Yum,
Maribel
