Student Senate awards — All are invited to the Student Senate Outstanding Staff Award reception Tuesday, March 17, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., in the Castle Room of Saemann Student Center. Give blood, give life — Wartburg will host a Red Cross blood drive Thursday, March 19, 11 a.m.–4 p.m. in Chapel Commons. Donors will receive at T-shirt while supplies last. Appointments are encouraged and can be made

Attend Pirates for free — Students, alumni, faculty, and community members will perform The Pirates of Penzance March 19-21, in Neumann Auditorium. The show begins nightly at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee Saturday, March 21, at 3 p.m. Wartburg students get in free with ID for the Friday night and Saturday afternoon performances. Stop by the Saemann Student Center Ticket Office or get your ticket outside the Mensa today, March 16, or Wednesday, 18. The Thursday and Saturday evening performances will feature Brian Stinar ’93, Mari Voelker Sayler ’08, Rachel Vickers ’09, theater professor Dr. William Earl, and Travis Toliver, executive director of the Waverly Area Chamber of Commerce. The Friday evening and Saturday afternoon performances will feature Wartburg students in the lead roles.
Graven Award Convocation — The Graven Award Convocation honoring Dr. Elijah Anderson is Tuesday, March 31, 7:30 p.m., in Wartburg Chapel. Anderson, the William K. Lanman Jr. Professor of Sociology at Yale University and one of the leading urban ethnographers in the country, will give an address. Music will be provided by Dr. Karen Black and The Wartburg Choir, directed by Dr. Lee Nelson.
Culture Week nears — Nearly 60 countries will be represented during Culture Week March 22-28. Themed
#WeAreOne, the celebration kicks off with the Culture Fair Sunday, March 22, 6:30-9 p.m., in Knights Ballroom in Saemann Student Center. The interactive event includes student performances, food samplings, calligraphy demonstrations, and a world music instrument petting zoo. Events sponsored by Wartburg’s International Student Programs Office continue all week.

KWAR marathon — KWAR-FM 89.9, Wartburg’s student-run radio station, is holding its annual 89.9-hour marathon from today, March 16, 7 p.m., through Friday, March 20, 1 p.m. A live deejay will give away at least one prize each hour.
This year's theme,
Marathon to the Future, plays off the famous Michael J. Fox movie
Back to the Future. The station will reflect on the past of KWAR and look at the future of the radio industry. Tune in at 89.9-FM, via the Wartburg Circuit

Documentary screening — Director Luis Argueta will host a screening of his latest documentary, ABRAZOS, Wednesday, March 18, 7 p.m., in Science Center 102. A question and answer session with Argueta will follow. ABRAZOS tells the transformational journey of a group of 14 U.S.-citizen children who travel from Minnesota to Guatemala to meet their grandparents for the first time. Argueta is known in Iowa for abUSed: The Postville Raid, which weaves personal stories of those affected by the 2008 immigration raid at Agriprocessors with a national debate about immigration.
Candlelight Dinner — SAFE is sponsoring a Candlelight Dinner Wednesday, March 25. Sign-up Wednesday, March 18, and Thursday, March 19, 5:15-7 p.m., in Mensa. At the event, SAFE members will discuss their organization while students, faculty, and staff mingle over dinner in the Heritage Room of Saemann Student Center. The cost for students with a board plan is $2, payable with points, declining balance, or cash. Students without a board plan may attend for $10. Special dietary considerations will be taken into account.
Clean out your closets — Reduce your closet clutter before the year ends. Bring gently used clothing to Old Main 10 (in the basement) and swap it out for new-to-you items Wednesday, March 18, and Thursday, March 19, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Unswapped items will be donated to a local charity. Improve your housing lottery odds — Wish you could control your housing lottery number? Through a promotion put on by Residential Life, your group can knock 25 points off your number. Here's how it works:
- Find one of the #LotteryKnight posters hanging around campus, and take a selfie in front of it with your future roommate(s). (All members must be shown!)
- Post the picture on social media, tag it #LotteryKnight, and include a thought on what makes the residential experience at Wartburg "Worth It."
- Come to the Marketing & Communication Office, Luther Hall 106, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and show the post. (Bring your phone!) You will receive a "Golden Ticket" certificate to attach to your housing application.
- Residential Life will deduct 25 points from your group's combined number, improving your odds of being assigned to your top choice of residence hall next academic year!

Class registration tip No. 7 — Online registration for May Term is limited to 1.25 course credits; onsite registration in the Registrar's Office is required for any enrollments that exceed the limit. If you plan to enroll in a May Term abroad that includes two courses, you will need to register for the 0.5 credit course in person. The onsite form is available from your adviser and from the Registrar’s Office. Be aware that some May Term abroad courses have prerequisites that must be taken in Winter Term.
ETK presents a cappella group —
Six Appeal will be taking center stage in Neumann Auditorium Monday, March 23, at 8 p.m., presented by Entertainment ToKnight. The award-winning a cappella group from Minnesota brings energy and charm to the stage, and the members' 75 combined years of musical training and experience will leave the audience wondering where the instruments were hiding.
