| The March 22 Presidential Forum has been canceled due to a change in President Colson’s travel schedule. The final forum for the academic year will be Tuesday, April 10, in WBC 214 (Buckmaster). |

| Grad Finale on Thursday |
| Do you have advisees graduating in May or August? Remind them to attend the Grad Finale on Thursday, March 22, anytime between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. in the ballrooms. Staff from various offices will be available to assist them in the transition from student to graduate, and they will be cleared to order their cap and gown at the event. | Faculty/Staff Appreciation Event |
| Student Senate will host the Faculty/Staff Appreciation Event on Thursday, March 29, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., in Hagemann Castle Room. The following award recipients will be recognized: Dr. Christine DeVries, associate professor of chemistry, John O. Chellevold Student Award for Excellence in Teaching and Professional Service; Dr. Lori Sheeler, visiting associate professor or public health, Outstanding Faculty Adviser; Krystal Madlock, director of multicultural student services, Outstanding Administrative Staff; and Steve Foelske, cleaning staff, Outstanding Non-Administrative Staff. There will be a brief program and remarks by DeVries at 11:45 a.m. Refreshments will be served. |

| Wicked Problems Poster challenge |
Congratulations to our inaugural Wicked Problems Poster Challenge students! The challenge generated more than 65 posters that have been narrowed down to five ideas entering the next phase of the process. Students selected for Phase 2 are:

- Will McDonald
- Ashley Reynolds
Join these students Wednesday, March 21, 7-9 p.m. in the ballrooms for a collaborative World Café. During this event, students from across campus will gather to assist in further development of the ideas. The top ideas that come from the World Café will go on to Phase 3 of the challenge and present during RICE Day on Thursday, April 12, from 10 to 11:15 a.m. in WBC 116. Thank you to everyone who entered! The Wicked Problems Poster Challenge will return next fall.

| Performance appraisal forms now available |
| Human Resources has finalized the changes to the performance appraisal forms. The forms are now available on the InfoCenter under Employment, Forms and Procedures, Performance Appraisal Forms. Performance appraisals are to be completed beginning April 1 and submitted no later than June 30, generally covering the working period of June 1, 2017, through May 31, 2018. | Memorial service for Al Koeneman |
| A memorial service is planned for Al Koeneman ’55, former vice president for development, at 11 a.m. April 14 in Wartburg Chapel, with lunch to follow in Knights Ballroom. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. April 13 at Kaiser Corson Funeral Home. Al held multiple positions during his tenure at Wartburg from 1991 to 2000. He was a retired rear admiral in the U.S. Navy and served as Chief of Chaplains of the U.S. Navy from 1988 to 1991. He died Feb. 20 and is survived by his wife, Carol ’66. |

| Help in using Wartburg logos |
| To help Wartburg College be consistent in representing itself to its various audiences, the Marketing & Communication Office has created a one-page guide that will help you communicate most effectively on behalf of the college. It includes guidelines on using various Wartburg logos, colors, and typefaces. If you’re REALLY into this, check out the complete “brand guidelines” PDF. As always, consult your department’s account manager for help in creating marketing and publication materials. |

| Fall Orientation updates |
| To improve communication to incoming students and families, orientation at Wartburg will now be called Fall Orientation instead of Orange EXCELeration. Please help the Student Life Office by referring to the program as such. Additionally, move-in for first-year students will be Saturday, Aug. 25, starting at 8 a.m. (instead of a Friday move-in, as in previous years). Once completed, an updated Fall Orientation schedule of events will be posted for review. Direct any questions/comments to Lindsey Leonard. |

| Performance appraisal time for staff is quickly approaching. The time frame for completion of appraisals is April through June. Human Resources is working though potential changes to the form and will announce when updated forms are available. Please do not begin performance appraisals until the new forms have been released. | KnightTime best practices training session |
| The Human Resources and Student Employment offices are teaming up to offer additional training on some of the best practices of reviewing and correcting timecards using KnightTime (Kronos). Training will be held Monday, March 19, 3 p.m., in McCoy West. This training session will provide new supervisors of students and/or staff with an introduction to Kronos as well as offer current supervisors an opportunity to refresh their knowledge of the system. |
