NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

Festival of Trees — The Wartburg Community Festival of Trees opens Tuesday, Dec. 2, in the Classroom Technology Center hallway. The free exhibit features trees decorated by several campus departments and community businesses and organizations. Several volumes of The Saint John's Bible — the inspiration for this year's Christmas with Wartburg theme — will be part of the display. The festival runs through Wednesday, Dec. 17. Christmas with Wartburg 
— Christmas with Wartburg, the college's annual musical celebration, is this week. Performances will be Friday, 7:30 p.m., Lutheran Church of Hope, West Des Moines; Saturday, 3 and 7:30 p.m., Neumann Auditorium; and Sunday, 3 p.m., Neumann Auditorium. Limited tickets remain for the evening performances.


In concert 
— Members of the Symphonic Band and Flute Choir will give a free concert Thursday, Dec. 4, 7 p.m., in Bachman Fine Arts Center’s band hall. The program includes Adventum by Jared Barnes ’07, Northwood-Kensett band director.


Phil and Lit 
— Two students will present research at the next meeting of the Wartburg Philosophical and Literary Society, Friday, Dec. 5, 4 p.m., in McCoy West of Saemann Student Center. Alexander Jenson ’15 will present Quantifying the Heating Needed to Induce Hardness Increase in Laser-Water et Treated Cubic Boron Nitride. Christian Terry ’16 will present I Can't Go On, I'll Go On: Mediating Traumatic Stress in Political Prisoners.


Gluten-free dessert 
— Dining Services is selling gluten-free cheesecakes for the holidays. Choose from white chocolate raspberry swirl and praline pumpkin. Order online for pickup at your convenience. With questions, call Dining Services at 352-8303. 


Just like mom's! 
— Students, faculty, and staff are invited to share their favorite recipes to be considered for the 2015-16 Mensa menu. Recipes for entrees, salads, ethnic dishes, vegan entrees or sides, and desserts can be dropped in the Mensa suggestion box or emailed to Jill Everding, Dining Services management systems coordinator, at jill.everding@wartburg.edu, by Friday, Jan. 16. Please include your name and contact information for verification. Recipes chosen will be taste-tested in Mensa. The student body will vote for its favorites, which will then be considered for next year’s Mensa menu. 


Winter bike storage 
— Campus Security offers bicycle storage over the winter. There is no charge, but your bike must be registered with the college. Also, you must agree to leave it in storage until a point in March when it is apparent that severe winter weather has ended. Bicycles will be accepted at the Campus Security office until Friday, Dec. 12. With questions, contact Campus Security at campus.security@wartburg.edu or 352-8372.

Zesty Orange hours — The Zesty Orange's hours will change slightly after break. The W's eatery will be open Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday, 7:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; and Sunday, 1-8 p.m.
