NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

Watch services online — Can’t make it to chapel? Thanks to a partnership between Spiritual Life & Campus Ministry and Knight Vision, anyone now can watch online. Visit the worship page on Knight Vision's new website to watch live or archived worship services and musical events. Highlights are posted regularly on the Spiritual Life & Campus Ministry Facebook page.


Zesty Orange hours —
The Zesty Orange's hours will change slightly after break. The W's eatery will be open Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday, 7:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; and Sunday, 1-8 p.m.


Dance Team tryouts
— Tryouts for the Dance Team's winter squad will be Tuesday, Dec. 9, 5-8 p.m., in the McCaskey Lyceum of Saemann Student Center. The team will perform routines in a variety of styles at basketball halftimes during Winter Term. Those auditioning will perform 20-30 seconds of their own choreography (pom or jazz preferred), a toe touch, double/triple pirouettes, and two additional skills. Email coach Kendra Oswald at kendra.oswald@wartburg.edu to sign up for a time and receive more information. Advanced registration is required.


Food drive ends 
— The Wartburg Store and Black Student Union's drive for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank ends today, Nov. 24. Students, faculty, and staff are asked to drop off nonperishable food items at The Wartburg Store or in The Hub, Saemann Student Center. Donors at The Wartburg Store will receive a 20-percent-off coupon. Contact Nasr Madar at nasr.madar@wartburg.edu with questions.


Day of remembrance
 — SAFE and Alliance invite all to join in a day of silence and remembrance Tuesday, Nov. 25, by dressing in all black to remember those lost to suicide. A discussion will be held 8-9:30 p.m. in McCoy East, Saemann Student Center. To sign up for the day's activities, email safe@wartburg.edu with your name, office, and the name of any loved ones you would like to represent. 


Safety tips for break
 — Campus Security asks you to keep these safety tips in mind over Thanksgiving break:

  • Before departing, make sure your doors and windows are locked and nothing of value is left laying around for others to see.
  • Tell someone your route home from campus, and make sure your phone is charged and your vehicle is properly tuned.
  • Bring warm clothes in case you are stranded.
  • Watch this video if you will be using a turkey fryer.


Research seminar
 — The next Math, Computer Science & Physics Department seminar will be Tuesday, Nov. 25, 11:30 a.m., in Science Center 134. Dr. LeAnn Faidley, assistant professor of engineering science, will lead this session on Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU). A panel of Wartburg students who recently participated in REU programs will share their experiences. Students interested in off-campus research are particularly encouraged to attend.


Thanksgiving treats 
— Order your Thanksgiving treats through Dining Services online. Choose from four kinds of cookie dough, six flavors of sweet bread, and two decadent cheesecakes. All are ready for pick-up at your convenience. Call Dining Services at 352-8303 with questions. 


The Changing Face of Masculinity and Femininity
 — The Wartburg Scholars’ Women & Public Policy class will host an informal discussion panel, The Changing Face of Masculinity and Femininity: Questioning the Social Constructs of Gender and Sexuality, Monday, Nov. 24, 7-8 p.m., at the Waverly Public Library. The discussion will feature guest speakers from the community. Donations will be accepted for Cedar Valley Friends of the Family. Attendees are encouraged to take an optional pre-survey. Sustainability representative
 — EcoReps hosts an informational meeting on increasing sustainability on campus Tuesday, Nov. 25, 7 p.m., in Cardinal Commons. Learn more about recycling on campus, sustainability over Thanksgiving, and opportunities for service focusing on sustainability and environment issues. St. Elizabeth awards — Six students and faculty have been honored for their commitment to service as part of the annual St. Elizabeth Week celebration. Paris White ’15Ashley Lahti ’16, and Tawanda Murinda ’15 received the St. Elizabeth Award for Service, which recognizes students who exemplify a commitment to service and desire to live a life that embodies the college’s mission. The Rev. Brian BeckstromDr. LeAnn Faidley, and Dr. Bill Soesbe received the Pastor Larry Trachte Award for Service, given to faculty or staff who embody his enthusiasm, support, dedication, and overall commitment to Wartburg’s mission of service.
