Summer hours for staff

Summer hours begin Sunday, May 28, and go through Saturday, Aug. 26. Wartburg office hours during this time will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Contact Jamie Hollaway with questions.

 
NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
InfoCenter upgrades 
Information Technology Services will be installing upgrades to the InfoCenter beginning this week. Very little should change other than a few aesthetic items. The entire InfoCenter website will receive a makeover during the summer months. If you are an administrator for InfoCenter pages and encounter any difficulty in making updates after the upgrades, contact Rich Everhardt.
The Juice summer schedule 
The Faculty/Staff Juice will publish every other week during the summer, starting June 5 (no issue is planned for the week of May 29). The final issue of Student Juice for the academic year will be Monday, May 22, with occasional emails as needed throughout the summer. The Juice will resume weekly emails on Sept. 5.
Merchandise sale Thursday
The Alumni Office and Service Trips program will host a merchandise sale on the campus lawn in front of Old Main on Thursday, May 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. Old merchandise from Homecoming, Beat Luther, Service Trips, and more will be available for a discounted price. All transactions are cash only.
Drone filming
Wartburg’s Marketing & Communication Office will be filming aerial footage of campus with a drone on Thursday, May 18. (In case of inclement weather, the backup filming date is Monday, May 22.) Please help campus look its best by cleaning up any trash you see ahead of filming.
VAC diaper drive 
The Volunteer Action Center is hosting a diaper drive through Tuesday, May 23. Donations of diapers, wipes, $10 gas gift cards, baby books, and baby wash/lotion are needed. All donations will go to low-income families who participate in the Nest program through Operation Threshold in Waterloo. Please drop off donations in the VAC office in Student Life. Peru research presentations 
The 2017 Ecology and Culture of the Amazon (GM/BI 295) May Term course students will be presenting results of individual research (biological, chemical, ecological, ethnological, societal, etc.) performed in Peru during their time in the Amazon jungle with the indigenous Maijuna people. Presentations will begin at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, in SC 102, and everyone is welcome to attend.
Stampede the Stigma 5K color run/walk
Wartburg College Suicide Awareness for Everyone (SAFE) is hosting a 5K color run and walk Saturday, May 20. The Stampede the Stigma 5K will begin at 10 a.m. with check-in at 9 a.m. on the south side of Old Main. A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, May 21, at 11 a.m. Click here for online registration; those who register before May 16 will receive a t-shirt. Cost is $7 for students and $10 for community members. Registration will be available the day of the event, but the cost will be $10 for students and $15 for community members. 
Des Moines Urban Studies program 
Applications still are being accepted to attend the Des Moines Urban Studies program for Fall Term. Third- or fourth-year students interested in an internship in their major while taking classes via distance learning should consider applying. For more information, contact Jo Dorrance.
2017-18 PRSSA executive team
Wartburg's chapter of PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America) announces next year’s executive team:

The team is looking forward to planning and hosting events for all Wartburg students to attend. PRSSA is a society working to actively engage students by giving them a professional insight to the working world of public relations. Staff changes in Business, HR & Payroll offices
The realignment in the Business and Human Resources & Payroll offices, driven by the revenue-enhancement and expense-saving process, is complete. Erica Sadler has started as the new HR and payroll assistant. In addition, Todd Parsons, former senior management analyst, has been named asset and internal control manager, a new position that was announced in January. Carolyn Hughes, former data management analyst, has filled Parsons' former role, and Zach Wells ’17 was hired to fill Hughes’ former role. He begins June 12. Retirement reception for Denny Haugen
A retirement reception for Denny Haugen, senior major gifts officer, will celebrate his 14 years of service to the college on Thursday, May 25, 3-4:30 p.m., in the rotunda on the third floor of Vogel Library. 
For faculty and staff users of KnightTime
If you have any issues logging onto the KnightTime system, please contact ITS Techline immediately (see contact information and hours of operation below). Over 90 percent of any log-on issues can be resolved within 10 minutes, if you are at your computer. Many of the issues people have been experiencing are caused by the use of Java. A system update this summer will correct the Java issues and introduce new enhancements.

Supervisors should review their employees’ timecards on a weekly basis. (NOTE: Approval is done monthly but the reviewing of timecards should happen weekly.) We will be tracking for student employment when the monthly timecards are not being completed, reviewed and corrected on a timely basis, and this information will be shared with the Cabinet. Similar tracking will start this summer with the staff timecards.

Properties for rent 
Click here to see the new intranet site with information on current properties the college has available for rent. All these properties are well-maintained and very close to campus. This site will be updated as properties are rented as well as when other properties become available. If you are interested in renting one of these properties, please contact Laura Davis, 352-8318, to arrange a walk-through. The rental application can be found on the intranet site as well.

May Term worship
Sanctuary is a holy space in the midst of your busy life where you can recharge and renew. Expect a relaxed time of Bible study, fellowship, music, prayers, and communion. The final Sanctuary of the term will take place on Sunday, May 21, at 8 p.m. in Chapel Commons (basement). Come by at 7:45 for snacks and conversation; Sanctuary begins at 8 and ends at 9.

PROFESSIONAL NOTES
 
The Rev. Bonita Bock, director of the Wartburg West, was awarded a certificate of membership in the CHARG Honorary Council on April 26, along with the Rev. Nelson Bock, retired co-director of Wartburg West. They were recognized by CHARG for their commitment to its mission of supporting mental wellness. Many Wartburg students have interned at CHARG and value its unique program, which addresses chronic and persistent mental illnesses.

Byron Mather, IT infrastructure analyst, has been honored with the Grout Museum District’s Sullivan Brothers Outstanding Military Family Award for exemplary community service. Click here to read more about the honor.

Jacob Thurman ’17 added to his home run record in the baseball team's semifinal win over Coe, as reported by the Cedar Rapids Gazette and Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier.

The baseball team clinched its third consecutive Iowa Conference championship with a win over Dubuque, as reported by the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier.
