TOP STORY

Celebration, blessing of retirees today – Take time today (Monday, April 11) to celebrate and bless the 28 staff and faculty members retiring this year from Wartburg at 10:15 a.m. in Wartburg Chapel. Festeburg will provide special music. Following worship, treats will be provided in the Narthex.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

Incomplete grade information — Please remind students that an incomplete grade is not valid unless it is supported by a “Student Request for Incomplete Grade” form. The completion of the form should be initiated by the student to confirm that the student and instructor have been in communication regarding the incomplete grade policy. The form is available in the Forms section on My Wartburg or in the Registrar’s Office (LH 216). Any incomplete grade submitted by the instructor without support of the form will be changed to any F. Please refer students to the incomplete grade definition in the 2015-16 academic catalog, which can be accessed online. Incomplete grades should only be issued for students who are passing the course when final grades are due. With permission from the Registrar, instructors can complete the form for a student whose circumstances prevent them from submitting the form. Please note that the form is encouraged, but not required, for internships, field experiences, or Venture Education courses.

Staff Retreat —
The Staff Retreat will be Wednesday, April 20, at the Heritage Methodist Church. Lunch and social time start at 11:30 a.m., with games following (weather permitting). At 2 p.m. David Lindner will speak on protecting yourself from identity theft. Prize drawings (must be present to win) will be held around 3 p.m. Once the retreat ends, all hourly staff will be allowed to go home and still record their “normal” time for the day. Salaried staff also are not required to return to work, but can do so using their own judgment.

Update to employee break clarification –
Information was shared in the March 18 edition of the Juice about employee breaks. We have recently received additional information that smoking is allowed on the sidewalk and the space between the sidewalk and the street, when the college property is adjacent to a public street (click here to see a map). This means that an individual smoking during his/her break time or lunch period would NOT need to punch out if he/she smoked on the space from the sidewalk to the street on college property that is adjacent to a public street (marked in green on map). Smoking is prohibited along the sidewalks/easements bordering PRIVATE streets (marked in red on map). Please check with the Security Office if you have any questions about where smoking is allowed.
