NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS 

May Term Senate — Any student on campus for May Term is encouraged to apply for May Term Senate, which consists of eight senators and the executive team for next year. This is a great opportunity to get involved in campus issues and start planning for Outfly 2016! Senate will meet approximately four times during May Term; no prior senate experience is needed. If elected, you will be automatically placed on next year's Student Senate if you would like. To be placed on the ballot for May term Senate, click here to fill out the application below by 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 29. A mandatory meeting about campaigning will be 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, in the Hub conference room. Hiking trip — Eight spots remain for a Wartburg Outdoor Recreation hiking trip through national parks in Utah and Colorado April 17-22. The trip is being promoted by EARTH Club. Participants must register by Friday, April 1. A pre-trip meeting is scheduled for Friday, April 8. The $400 registration fee will cover the cost of traveling, campground fees, rental equipment and other camping essentials. Anne Duncan, Wartburg’s environmental sustainability coordinator, will lead the group. For details, contact Alec Matthew or EARTH Club.

Musical Auditions for 2016-17 — Auditions for next year's musical will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. March 31 and April 5 in Liemohn Choral Hall. Preference will be given to those who audition using material from the following works: The Gondoliers (Gilbert & Sullivan), A Little Night Music (Sondheim), My Fair Lady, Carousel, and Guys & Dolls. Sign up for an appointment in advance on the door of FAC 202 or drop by either audition night. An accompanist will be provided. Wind Ensemble spaghetti dinner — Come enjoy a free spaghetti dinner hosted by the Wartburg College Wind Ensemble at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly on Saturday, April 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. As you eat, ensemble members will talk about the upcoming European tour. Donations will be accepted to help cover equipment transport costs.

Stress-free Zone — Wartburg Suicide Awareness for Everyone (SAFE) and Counseling Services will hold a "Stress-free Zone" on Monday, April 11, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the campus mall. This event will include outdoor activities and root beer floats. Rain location is in Chapel Commons. If you have a pet you would be willing to bring for students to play with during part of that time, please email kaitlyn.behnken@wartburg.edu.

Stampede the Stigma 5K — Wartburg's Suicide Awareness for Everyone (SAFE) and UNI's To Write Love on Her Arms will hold the Stampede the Stigma 5K color run/walk beginning on UNI's campus in Cedar Falls on Saturday, April 9, at 10 a.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Rain date is Sunday, April 10, at 2 p.m. Cost is $7 for students and $12 for community members and includes a t-shirt. Library Student Advisory Board — The Library Student Advisory Board is looking for students to join the board who are passionate about the effectiveness of the library and making the improvements to best suit students. The group meets about once a month. If interested, contact blake.shipman@wartburg.edu.

Phil and Lit — The next Winter Term meeting of the Wartburg Philosophical and Literary Society is Friday, April 1, at 4 p. m. in McCoy West of Saemann Student Center. Ariel Ford Loosier '16, a psychology major, will present Rape Myth Acceptance: Its relationship to gender, gender role beliefs, social dominance orientation, and individualism/collectivism. Mullohoji Juraev '16, an international relations and economics major, will present A Hope and a Future: Providing a Healthier Opportunity for a Better Future. The society meets most Friday afternoons during the academic year for presentations by a colleague in an informal, convivial setting. Beverages and snacks are available.

Submissions for Knightline — Send in your news/events for the next edition of Knightline, our monthly e-newsletter that goes out to Wartburg alumni, parents and friends. The April edition will be going out on Thursday, April 7. Dance Marathon applications — Did you enjoy WCDM8? Do you want to be more involved with Wartburg College Dance Marathon? Click here to apply to be on our executive team or click here if you are interested in being a morale captain. Applications are due Friday, April 1.

Volunteer Action Center is hiring — The VAC is searching for a marketing coordinator, community partner liaison, and an office and scheduling coordinator to join the executive team next year. Knight Vision Sports openings — Knight Vision Sports is looking for students to be on our team for the 2016-17 academic year. Job duties include but are not limited to: camera operator, game-day graphics, technical director, play-by-play and color commentating, sports media marketing, on-air reporting, and highlight shooting and editing. We will train hardworking individuals who want to learn more. These are paid positions with an average of 20 hours of work per week; the positions are open to all majors on campus. Parking registration open for 2016-17: Online registration is now open if you are bringing a vehicle to campus during the 2016-17 school year. Click here and then click "Parking Registration—Open" to register, and click here for details about each parking lot. Note that the parking lot on the corner of 12th Street NW and Fifth Avenue, just west of Waverly Manors, will change its name from N Lot West to C Lot. Parking fees for 2016-17: N Lot, $235; C & B Lots, $175; D Lot, $90; Commuter, $30. After June 24, a late registration fee of $25 is charged for all categories. All but commuter fees are prorated if a student brings or removes a vehicle during the course of the year. Contact John Myers with questions.

BSU Hoops for Hope Fundraiser — Black Student Union's annual Hoops for Hope, a student vs. faculty/staff charity basketball game, will be April 2 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Levick Arena. All students, faculty, and staff members are invited to support this cause by making donations and attending the event. This year, all money raised will go to The Boys & Girls Club of Cedar Valley in Waterloo. Anyone interested in playing in the game can stop by the Hub to sign up or contact the Black Student Union. All players are asked to contribute a $5 donation by Friday, April 1. Please contact Dajuan King with any questions.

Newspaper stands — Due to increased costs for the Readership Program, the Student Senate will no longer be providing the New York Times. Additionally, all residence hall newspaper stands except for Cardinal Commons will be removed. The Student Senate is committed to serving the Student Body effectively and allocating student funds responsibly. These changes were necessary to remain within our budgetary constraints. This year, USA Today significantly raised its rates. At the same time, lower enrollment has decreased the available funds for the Readership Program. The Student Senate decided on these specific changes because the New York Times is the least-used paper and the residence hall locations are the least-utilized stands on campus. These changes are only intended to last for the remainder of the current academic year. Please direct any questions or concerns to senate@wartburg.edu.

Dodgeball tournament — Student Senate's Political Action Committee will hold a dodgeball tournament for all students Friday, April 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. Teams consist of six to eight people; click here to sign up through Friday, April 1. Each team will have the option to represent different political parties, such as "The Canadian Extreme Wrestling Party." Questions can be directed to senate@wartburg.edu.

Math, Computer Science & Physics Department Seminar — The next Math, Computer Science & Physics Department Seminar will be held Tuesday, March 29, at 11:30 a.m. in SC 134. Mr. Richard Ligo, a graduate student in mathematics at the University of Iowa, will deliver a presentation entitled More Than Meets the Eye: Geometry and Our Perception of Reality. Refreshments will be provided.

May Term mail reminder — For anyone who will be leaving for May Term and either will be graduating or will not be back for May Term: Make sure you contact the Mail Center and tell us if you will not be back on campus. Please clean out your box before you leave.  Most letters can be forwarded along with magazines for which you have a paid subscription. Magazines can only be forwarded for two months, so if you want to continue receiving them you will need to contact the companies. Packages that arrive for you can only be forwarded if they are sent by the Postal Service, but UPS or FedEx packages can only be returned to the sender. Please stop by and sign our sheet if you will not be returning to campus after Tour Week. All forwarding mail will be sent to your home address if you are not on campus. Darla Hamann, mail center coordinator, adds: "It’s been a pleasure to serve you. I will not be here after May 31; retirement has beckoned me."
