NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Juice changes delivery 
— As of Monday, Oct. 19, The Juice will be sent only on Mondays. Please keep this change in mind when submitting announcements. The deadline for submissions through juice@wartburg.edu is 4 p.m. Thursday. As always, news items will be posted to the InfoCenter on a continual basis.

Sen. Rand Paul to visit — Republican presidential hopeful Rand Paul will visit campus Tuesday, Oct. 13. The 5 p.m. event in McCaskey Lyceum is part of the Kentucky senator’s The Iowa 10,000 College Tour and sponsored by the Wartburg College Republicans. 

PBL hosts Northwest Mutual — Phi Beta Lambda will host Northwest Mutual representatives for a presentation Tuesday, Oct. 13, 7:30-8:30 p.m., in Whitehouse Business Center 117. The representatives will discuss networking and financial planning. All students are invited. Phil and Lit — Dr. Kunihiko Terasawa, assistant professor of world religions, will present Religion, Nationalism, and WWII in the Asian context; the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII for the Wartburg Philosophical and Literary Society Friday, Oct. 16, 4 p.m., in McCoy West of Saemann Student Center. 

Lilly Graduate Fellows nominations — Interested in teaching in a college of the church someday? Wartburg can nominate up to three individuals for the Lilly Graduate Fellows Program in Humanities and the Arts. Sixteen Fellows will be selected nationally to participate in a three-year mentoring program and to receive three annual $3,000 stipends for their graduate studies. Online humanities courses available — Wartburg is part of a consortium of colleges offering approximately 40 online courses at no charge. You can review the available upper-level humanities courses for Winter Term 2016 here. If you are interested in enrolling, please contact Sheree Covert, registrar, at  sheree.covert@wartburg.edu or in Luther Hall 216.

Have you found the Sustainability Office? — Free school supplies and environmental education are available in the Sustainability Office, located in Old Main. The first 100 first-year students who come in and make a sustainable commitment will receive a $5 coupon to The Wartburg Store. For more information, click here.

German Institute applications call — The executive committee of the German Institute is pleased to announce the 2016 call for applications to support activities/endeavors related to German and/or Germany. For 2016, $2,500 is available. Because these funds are limited, an application is required and will be awarded on a competitive basis. Applications for the full amount of available funds most likely will not be supported in full. Applications are due Nov. 6. Awards will be announced no later than Dec. 1. Previously, the institute has funded enhancements to May Term trips to Germany, a forthcoming film festival, and subsidized student travel to Germany for study abroad. Candlelight dinner — The new Sociology/Criminology Club will hold a candlelight dinner Wednesday, Oct. 21, 6:30 p.m., in the Heritage Room of Saemann Student Center. Club leaders will discuss goals and plans for the year. Sign up Oct. 14-15 in Mensa. The cost for students is a board meal plus $2, which can be paid through points, cash, or declining balance. The cost is $10 for those without a board plan. Dietary considerations will be made. For more information, contact Kaila Beavers '16, club president, at kaila.beavers@wartburg.edu.

Get involved with St. Elizabeth Week — The St. Elizabeth Committee is seeking students interested in serving on the planning and organizing committee for this year. The group will meet for an hour on Saturdays to discuss events, marketing strategies, student involvement and more. St. Elizabeth Week, Nov. 15-21, is devoted to community activism and service. Organized by the Volunteer Action Center, the week includes activities developed by student organizations that focus on efforts to alleviate hunger and homelessness. for more information, contact the VAC at vac@wartburg.edu.

AAUW hosts pay inequity presentation — The Waverly branch of American Association of University Women will host Pay Inequity - It's a Fact: The Realities Behind Unequal Pay and Strategies for Achieving Equality Thursday, Oct. 15, 6-7:30 p.m., in Whitehouse Business Center 116. Kristen Corey, program planner for the Iowa Department of Human Rights' Office on the Status of Women, will lead the presentation. Diversity and the Doctor IS 201 — There is still room in Diversity and the Doctor (IS 201 07), an IS 201 course that is being offered Winter Term. The course meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:45 to 9:25 a.m. The class uses the television series Doctor Who to examine issues of race, class, gender, sexuality, and other forms of diversity in Britain and the United States. Although the course meets the IS 201 requirement for all second-year students, it also can be taken as an elective by all students and is writing intensive.
