WartburgAlert test — The college's emergency notification system, WartburgAlert, will be tested Thursday, Sept. 17, around noon. The campus community is encouraged to register by clicking here. WartburgAlert is tested at least once per term. The system allows up to two numbers for text notifications and four numbers for voice messages; text notification is encouraged. God’s Work, Our Hands Sunday — God’s Work, Our Hands Sunday begins with a worship service Sept. 27, 10:30 a.m., in Wartburg Chapel. The service includes Holy Communion and music led by summer camp staff members. Service projects begin at 11 a.m., and lunch will be provided. Register for a service project outside Mensa during lunch and dinner today, Sept. 14, or dinner Thursday, Sept. 17. Sunday offerings — Fall Term Sunday offerings will be donated to the ELCA Lutheran Disaster Response Middle East and Europe Refugee Crisis. Please pray for the individuals, families, and children who are refugees and migrants fleeing war and poverty in the Middle East and Europe. Donations also are accepted online or in the Spiritual Life & Campus Ministry Office.
Biomedical conference — The seventh annual University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine Biomedical Pre-graduate School Conference will be Friday, Oct. 2, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Large Event 2015 — Singer, songwriter, and record producer Andy Grammer will perform at Wartburg Friday, Oct. 23, as Entertainment ToKnight's 2015 Large Event (#LargeEvent15). Tickets will be available exclusively to Wartburg students for $5 today, Sept. 14, 6 a.m.-10:30 a.m., in the Neumann Auditorium lobby; 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2-7 p.m. at the Information Desk, Saemann Student Center; Tuesday, Sept. 15, 8 a.m.-7 p.m., Information Desk. Beginning Monday, Sept. 21, students, faculty, and staff (with a Wartburg ID) can purchase tickets for $10. Beginning Monday, Sept. 28, remaining tickets will go on sale to the public for $20. The Ticket Office will be open Wednesday, Sept. 16-Friday, Oct. 23, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday-Friday. One ticket per Wartburg ID. Balcony seats will not be admitted to the floor section at any point during the concert.
Interested in optometry? — Sunnie Ewing from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn., will be on campus Tuesday, Sept. 15, 11:30 a.m., in Science Center 141 to meet with students.
Back-to-school sale — The Wartburg Store will have a back-to-school sale with items 40-60 percent off Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 16-17, 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m., in the McCoy rooms of Saemann Student Center. Click here for more information.

Board plan changes — The deadline to change board plans for the semester is Thursday, Sept. 17, 4:30 p.m. Please double-check your plan by this time. Ask any dining cashier or the Dining Office (where ID pictures are taken) to scan your card and tell you which board plan you are on. Make all board plan changes in the Dining Office.
Homecoming decoration contest — Calling all Knights! Show your Wartburg pride during Homecoming by participating in the student window-painting contest. The painter of the first-, second-, and third-place windows will receive $200, $100, and $50, respectively. You must register to qualify for prizes. Photo submissions are due Thursday, Sept. 24 to homecoming@wartburg.edu. Groups can pick up paint supplies at the Alumni office in the basement of Luther Hall or at the Homecoming T-shirt sales table. Winners will be announced at the Homecoming pep rally Thursday, Oct. 1.
Refund checks — Student account refund check requests need to be received in the Business Office before noon Monday, Sept. 21. Checks will be available for pickup Wednesday, Sept. 23. This applies only to students who have a credit balance on their student account.
Trumpet reporters wanted — The Trumpet is seeking reporters for 2015-16. Story assignment meetings are Sundays, 6 p.m., in the J-Lab in McElroy Center. All students are invited regardless of past experience. Contact Jessica Grant at jessica.grant@wartburg.edu for more information.

Vocal Point concert — Experience a thrilling showcase of harmony, humor, and vocal percussion with Brigham Young University’s nine-man a cappella group, Vocal Point, Friday, Oct. 16, 7:30 p.m., in the newly refurbished Neumann Auditorium. Their family-friendly show was a finalist on NBC’s "The Sing-Off." Wartburg’s own male a cappella group, Festeburg, also will perform. Purchase tickets online or call the ticket office at 352-8691.
Best Dam Run — The W is sponsoring the Best Dam Run to Prevent Child Abuse Saturday, Sept. 26. Hosted by the Waverly Exchange Club, this year's event includes a half marathon in addition to the 5K walk/run. The half marathon begins at 8 a.m. and the 5K begins at 9 a.m. at the Waverly Civic Center. Click here for more information and to register.
Genetics career event — The Iowa Institute of Human Genetics is hosting Careers in Human Genetics Information Day Friday, Sept. 18, to expose students to career opportunities in human genetics. This opportunity is a great way for students to discuss careers and ask questions in a small-group setting. Click here for more information or to register.
Choir releases album — The Wartburg Choir's new recording, "Alleluia!," features works by classic composers such as Bach and Rachmaninoff, as well as up-and-coming composers Jake Runestad and Ēriks Ešenvalds. Ceramic art exhibit — Iowa City ceramic artist Eliza Au will use geometry to explore mankind’s place in the cycle of life in the first exhibit of the 2015-16 season in the Waldemar A. Schmidt Art Gallery. Frame of Reference will run until Sunday, Oct. 25. Click here to read more.
