Looking to earn some extra cash? — A local paper carrier is looking for someone to cover vacations. The route covers Bartels and two neighborhoods near Wartburg. ASCO Numatics, the world’s leading manufacturer of comprehensive fluid automation, flow control and pneumatics solutions, is opening the 2013-14 application period for its engineering scholarship program — two merit-based scholarships of $5,000 to exceptional undergraduate and graduate engineering students pursuing careers in manufacturing, process or other industrial automation related disciplines. ASCO Numatics also will make $1,000 grants to the engineering departments of the colleges of the winners. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an engineering, instrumentation, systems, electrical, mechanical or automation discipline, entering their junior or senior year. Scholarship opportunity — Now in its sixth year, the iModules Scholarship Program annually provides individual financial scholarships to students enrolled in secondary or higher education institutions that are current iModules clients. Waverly Health Center scholarships — The Waverly Health Center has recently announced three scholarships. All scholarships are to be given to any person within the Waverly Health Center service area who has graduated high school (or completed the GED) and has completed or is completing one year of education in a health-career field. More than one scholarship in any category may be given in one year at the discretion of the auxiliary board. Each scholarship will be $1,500. - Auxiliary Scholarship – applicants must be a full-time student attending an institution of higher learning when applying for this scholarship.
- Sue Fish Memorial Scholarship – applicants may be a full-time or part-time student attending an institution of higher learning when applying for this scholarship. Nursing students will be given preference with the Sue Fish scholarship.
- WHC Employee Scholarship – applicants must be an employee of Waverly Health Center and be a full-time or part-time student attending an institution of higher learning when applying for this scholarship.
Sussle scholarship –– Sussle is an encyclopedia of the things you care about, and this is not your usual scholarship. By participating, you will be posting your knowledge for the benefit of others, and in return, the best contributor will win the scholarship. You must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited U.S. college or university and a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident. Robert D. Blue scholarship –– The 2013 Robert D. Blue Scholarship application is now available online at www.rdblue.org. The Robert D. Blue scholarship is made possible by the Iowa Centennial Memorial Foundation. Any Iowa student who plans to attend an Iowa college or university is eligible for this award. Applicants are expected to demonstrate literary and scholastic ability; exhibit qualities of truth, courage, and fellowship; and display moral force of character. Leadership Scholarship –– It's time to apply for the leadership scholarship sponsored by Student Senate. To be eligible you must be a current second- or third-year student with a GPA of at least 3.0. You also must show leadership skills on or off campus. This does not mean you have to be a leader of an organization. Multiples scholarship –– The Des Moines Chapter of the Mothers of Multiples organization is sponsoring two $350 scholarships for the 2013-2014 academic year for Iowa's multiple-birth students pursuing enrollment or who are currently enrolled in a college, university, trade or vocational school. Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company will be providing $150,000 in scholarships for the 2013-14 school year through MassMutual Scholars, a national program for high-achieving college students of African American, Asian/Pacific Islander or Hispanic descent interested in careers in the insurance and financial services industry. Eligible students of all majors will be considered who are entering their sophomore, junior, senior or fifth-year senior year. The application is available through May 3. Hovland Scholarship (Norwegian descent) — Open to students entering their junior year in Fall 2013. Students must be enrolled at an accredited college or university and of Norwegian descent, with a preference given to applicants from the Bomlo Community of Norway. Applications must also demonstrate financial need and have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better on a 4.0 scale. Award: $1,000; Deadline: July 15. Roy J. Carver Scholarships are awarded to students of exceptional merit and promise who have overcome significant obstacles and demonstrate the tenacity and resolve necessary to succeed in the completion of a four-year college degree. Information about this $7,600 annual scholarship is available on the Financial Aid bulletin board outside the Business Office in Luther Hall and at www.carvertrust.org. You must be a current sophomore starting your junior year in Fall 2013 with at least a 2.8 cumulative gpa, a U.S. citizen, and the graduate of an accredited high school in Iowa or an Iowa resident for the last five years. You must demonstrate financial need. Most importantly, you must describe how you have risen above unusual or debilitating circumstances in your life to accomplish your education.
Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants scholarship — Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants are awarding up to $1,000 to the winner(s) of their essay contest on the topic that appears on the scholarship page of their web site: http://www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm. Deadline is June 14.
John Hughes Memorial scholarship — The Iowa Bankers Association is accepting applications for the John Hughes Memorial Scholarship to the Iowa School of Banking established as a memorial in 1986 for Hills, Iowa, banker John Hughes. Two individuals will be selected, one from an Iowa college or university and one employed by a news organization in Iowa. The scholarship pays all room, board and tuition expenses to attend one week of the two-week school in Cedar Rapids, June 9-14, with a curriculum on topics such as investments, bank financial analysis and the changing banking environment.
